[beginner] Is Rhino a good choice for me?

Hello,

I work in a town planning consultancy and my company wants to do most of the drawing work in house going forward. At the moment we only do basic 2d drawings, most of them outlines and include floor plans, elevations, sections, location and block plans, etc. This is all done in AutoCAD.

My manager is looking to buy the full AEC packages of AutoDesk so that we can do 3d modelling going forward and massing exercises, site configurations, etc.

I want to get a head start and learn a software by myself in my spare time and after some research I came across Rhino as an alternative.

I would like to know if Rhino is capable to do everything we need and if it would be feasible for a beginner like me to pick his up.

We really want to provide 3D drawings and site configuration plans going forward plus the plans that we are already doing in 2D (floor plans, elevations, sections, location and block).

It would be great if we could do this or most of this in one software compared to using perhaps Forma, Revit and AutoCAD to achieve the same results.

I would also like to find out how is the compatibility of Rhino with AutoDesk products.

I am mainly interested in Architecture design.

Thank you in advance.

Best regards,
Razvan

Hi Razvan,

You can think of Rhino as very similar to Autocad, with lots of extras. It’s not very comparable to Forma or Revit, although we integrate with Revit rather well.
