AO maps in PBR materials

Hi @nathanletwory
As soon as I add an AO map to my PBR materials the whole thing slows down a lot - see video for at really bad example. Other maps (base, roughness, bump) don’t t seem cause the same slowdown. Can this be tuned up or is it because AO maps are particularly taxing on the GPU? :grimacing: SysInfo below.

TIA, Jakob

Could be. This is in rendered mode, an area @DavidEranen can say more about.

Ah, sorry for calling out your name, then! :grimacing:

No problem! It is easy enough to punt to collegue (:

Hi @Normand,

Thanks for reporting! I’m currently working on this issue. I can’t say exactly when it’s ready for release but it’s my main priority right now. It should normally render much faster, but we’re including a bit too much unnecessary code in the shader which is slowing it down.
