It is an aluminum rim that I designed with NURBS. Of course, I didn’t consider all technical items and mostly paid attention to its shape.
With respect, if you didn’t take account of “technical items” you didn’t design it, you merely drew it.
The challenge in automotive design, and any other area of design, is to work within the constraints and requirements. Otherwise it is art, not design.
Today i am struggling with major revisions to a design. The customer liked the previous design - except for not meeting a manufacturing requirement which had not been mentioned.
Hello sir
I did mean it has not been calculated in the analysis workbench to be modified for manufacturing
dont mind the nitpicking bandids its ok to call it design. you could use the terminology design study which is commonly used i believe. other than that design comes from the latin word “designare” which literally means to draw.
i am not a fan of rims, so i can not say much about it. you could use some slight filletting though they are a bit sharp around the edges, the rim looks like it could function as a meat grinder
Hello, encephalon
You are right. It needs some smooth and curvature edges that I didn’t do or chose low fillet radius that was not clear in the picture, especially since the picture was a print type not rendered.
Before your comment, I was designing another rim that I think is better than the first. You can visit that and express your viewpoint
Thank you
