Align tool to ignore Dimension Arrow?

Hi,

I’m not sure if this is something that can be done but I use the align tool a lot when moving my dimensions around. Say, something in the design as been changed and I just need to shift a dimension over on the Layout page. Anyway, I don’t have a problem when I’m using a ‘Arrow’ Arrowhead, but when I am using a Tick or if I have a dimension Line Extension the align tool uses the furthest point to align to. But I would prefer it to align only to the dimensions control points.

I’ve added a picture as an example.

Let me know if there is a way to do this in the Annotation Style settings or may I request it goes in a wishlist somewhere

Hi Gabrielle - I would turn on control points (F10) for the dimension and move those to the desired locations. It looks like Align uses the bounding box.

Yeah, its just a bit of a slower process. Especially if there are objects below/behind and you have to specify which point you want. I know there are many work-arounds to my problem but was just hoping it could work like the ‘arrow’ arrowhead. My boss wants me to use the tick :weary: so it hasn’t been a problem before now

Hi Gabrielle - you could temporarily set the dimstyle to use arrows while you adjust…

Hi Gabrielle -

Apart from what has been said, unless you’ve changed the default behavior, when the design changes, the dimensions will automatically update. If you have a reproducible case where this is not happening, we would like to take a closer look at that.

I had history turned off b/c the pop-up was annoying me. And I would turn the pop up notification off but every time I closed and reopened rhino it work turn the pop up back on again. So only use history when I need it. Sounds like it is probably time for me to update my workflow
