Looks nice ! How did you do the Layer’s background dark?
It’s not the worst thing that can happen to you, but for some reason after a long time of “peace” my RiR UI started a new rebel again and every time I open Rhino Inside Revit it starts like it’s trying to fit inside a smartphone.
How it looks
How it should look
I got to move back in place: blocks toolbar, groups toolbar, VA toolbar, and panel with Layers, Named Views, etc. Of course, while moving them, I got to rescale some toolbars, because they are too small.
As a bonus, from time to time I completely lost my Panels and Rhino is starting with the default set.
I don’t know any other program which UI breaks like that.
Flexibility is one of the biggest advantages of Rhino UI but there are problems too. I agree with Eugen that sometimes it feels wobbly.
I use the Elgato Stream Deck with Rhino and it’s amazing. I use it to trigger Keyboard shortcuts in Rhino and Grasshopper. Works great, since it can switch layouts based on the software that is in focus.
They even have an XL version now: Stream Deck XL | elgato.com
But even the smaller ones are fine, since you can have nested folders and/or multiple pages of icons.
Customizable hardware is indeed great - I love my Kyria split keyboard. Working on replacing the controller with a version that has a whole lot more memory for all the shortcuts and more. A Stream Deck is indeed a good idea, then there are the macropads out there as well that can be configured as one wants.
Since that also means extra cost in money I suggested KMonand, as you don’t need new hardware for that. But in the end whichever tool will get you the farthest is the best for you (:
In Rhino 6 you have to mess with Windows settings to get the colour you want on the backgrounds. In Rhino 7 apparently you can just go to the options and change them.
You need to check under >Advanced, search for a keyword like “background” and you will find what you need.
Thanks, found it but it is more hidden than it should imo
It is hidden because the feature isn’t really ready for full exposure yet. It is still being worked on refined more. Much of that is done through the plug-in colorscheme, which you can find through the PackageManager.
So what do you do after you install that? Even Blender has a small description on where to find the add-ons after you’ve installed them, but here I can’t see anything.
After installation, run ‘SetColorScheme’. It’s more or less self-explanatory then.
I have installed the colorscheme plugin, but the plugin is not listed in the Options list of plugins, and the SetColorScheme command does not work. When I type it, Rhino says: “Unknown command: SetColorScheme”
I want dark background. As of now I use a patchwork made of GreyEveTheme (dark Windows theme) and dark Rhino colors. My patchwork does not work well because text in some floating Rhino windows is barely visible.
You have to restart rhino i think.
Dark mode support is being worked on for Rhino 8. It is a big project and will take time to fix issues like shown in the above image.
Is there a plan to update icons in Rhino 8
There are some icons from Win 98.
Are there specific icons that you would like to see redesigned?
Oh, dear lord yes! All of these are frankly horrible. At least, please give us the option to replace them ourselves like you can with toolbar icons…
Sorry, but I strongly disagree…
