Been doing a lot of modelling in R8 lately and have a need for the following tools.
Problem 1 - Revision cloud on 3D objects
A 3D revision cloud object that is similar in appearance/function to a Dot?
- Pick object
- run command (picking options also)
- revcloud appears around object in all views. It doesn’t change size or shape, it is based on bounding box of the original object. (Or maybe it does change size and shape to just bound the object)
- the revcloud doesn’t scale with zooming (different to a Dot)
Problem 2 - 3D sketches of parts that are really close to the final design, but aren’t complete. It’s a trap when there are lots of parts in the model. Current practice is to give the part a custom colour and keep an eye on it as the design progresses. Stealing from BIM practice, a Level of Detail property for a part would make life a little easier. Each LOD can have its own properties and overrides (colour, lock, etc). Add a feature to select by LOD. There’s spare room on the properties panel to have a simple drop-down. Another part property isn’t going to add much overhead.
