2D Tags not showing in up in Top view_

Hi,

I’m using 2D Tags in ShapeDiver which works great, except for in Top View Mode.

Top view (centered in viewer):

Top view (to one side in view, some dims show up):

I thought that It might have to do with the ground plane so I moved dimension 100mm above z=0mm.

Any ideas?

Cheers Oskar

Dimensions get hidden behind geometry, and depending on the distance of the camera to the scene, it might be that the dimension lines interfere with the tags visibility in your case. I think if you zoom closer to the dimensions, you will notice that they are displayed without issues.

We will review the methods we use for computing the tags visibility. In the meantime, my recommendation would be to slightly update the tag location to make sure it does not get hidden. For example, if you want to display tags in top view, make sure the location is slightly above the dimension lines, which should ensure they are displayed more consistently.

Thanks @mathieu1, not sure why I didn’t think of moving the tag above the dim line, I was too focused on the idea of it being the ground plane that was obstructing it.

I am using your dimension component. As a feature request I think a dim too should be added to the components offering in the ShapeDiver toolkit and the obstruction should not be a thing.

Unfortunately moving the tag above the line didn’t work either, I have tried different dist as well but with similar result.

Same thing again here where the dims shows up if I place the model off center from the view, then they appear again.

When I pick bottom view it shows all of the dimensions… that is very strange.

I have filed an issue for our viewer team. I will let you know once we make progress.
