For many years there are problems with .rui toolbars. When you install a new plugin sometimes:
a) toolbar is loaded or not
b) sometimes you need to load it manually from toolbar option
c) sometimes you need to load from your computer folder
d) for mac, in option c, you cannot even load manually the .rui file from the plugin folder because the folder is hidden. So you need to use even command line to find the file. Copy to desktop and then load. open "/Users/petras/Library/Application Support/McNeel/Rhinoceros/packages/8.0/COMPAS-IGS"
Please make it easier!
This little issue make a big fuzz when you need to teach 40 students and go one by one on each pc and explain these manually steps. Rather than focusing on the main topic of a class…
Please make it possible. It is not only my request, this issue comes again and again, without no solid answer…
+1 on this longstanding problem. No consistency session to session even. It would be great if this loaded from the cloud with the license to ensure an even UI on all instances wherever the license holder was working. Porting across version upgrades would also be an important priority to me. I can’t tell you how much time I’ve spent re-forming my toolbars from machine to machine or upgrade to upgrade or all of the above, not a good sell for Rhino frankly.
Can we PLEASE have .rui update when updating a plugin. The current behavior of load the Rui once and never again change/update is just painful for developers and end users.
This one I need to verify with you if I understand this correctly. Are you saying that the RUI file is not loaded at all?
RH-81206 Toolbars are not visible when installed with a plugin
I am reading this as a result of a) ?
this one is logged as RH-84576 YAK package fails to update RUI file
I am assuming that covers your issue, but let me know if it isn’t
The idea of having a single settings file/folder has been on the list for long. I assume porting it to a cloud solution is not the hardest part. RH-1110 Save all settings.
Yes. This specially happens when you install newer version of a plugin.
We really need solution to .RUI, because the problem stays the same from Rhino 5. And we are awate that youtrack issues are only made for this problem, but not solved and always “in-progress”.
