Vray Light Inside Grasshopper

Hi everyone,
I’m having an issue with orienting my Vray rectangular light in Grasshopper. I want to use a rectangle curve in Rhino as a proxy for the vray light inside Grasshopper - so If I update the size and orientation of the curve it updates the vray light in GH for example. For some reason, the point I’m using to position the light slightly rotates the light off the XY axis, is there a reason for this? Thanks

Hi,

Aligning the rect light to an arbitrary plane is not possible prior v. 5.20.04. Up until then the orientation was defined by two points only, and the direction is calculated so that the third axis is aligned to the world Z axis.

in 5.20.04 the position/target parameter pair was replaced by a plane parameter, that allowed arbitrary alignment. A corresponding migration component was added.

So just update your V-Ray version to the latest 5.xx (or 6.xx) and just upgrade all your V-Ray components. Then build up your plane and re-wire (removing the migration component)
