UV map size lock position and V8 sliders in general

Hi McNeel
A couple of things on the revised UV mapping tab in V8. Why is the lock (marked in yellow) positioned all the way over there to the right and underneath the sliders? If you look at (most, if not all) the other similar slider clusters with locks, most are positioned at the top and to the left; which in my eyes makes more sense. On top because it seems more logical to read the tabs top down, to the left because that’s the general (Western, I know) reading direction and since the tabs (at least pr. default) are on the right, making for at shorter mouse travel.
Another thing that has been bothering me with the new interface is the nummerical slider(s), eg. UV size slider (marked in blue), but also things like the roughness slider in the material tab. Sometimes it seems to need either an inordinate amount of clicks to activate or I need to actually move the mouse slightly left/right to find a “clickable” area (within the white box). Almost as if small areas within the box are inactive. I’ll try to see if I can pinpoint the behaviour, but wanted to hear if anyone else is experiencing the same thing?

TIA, Jakob

OK, so just tested the slider-thing. There is an actual dead space in there. As you can see in the video, my mouse pointer is clearly within the box, my mouse doesn’t jitter (nor do my hands :joy:), but still there are areas where the double clicks just don’t register. It’s not something I’ve seen in any other applications, and I can make it happen with at least two different mice. (a cabled Razer Deathadder Lefty and a generic Dell mouse). Anyone else seeing this? I just made a fix for the slider. There was in fact a spot that if clicked, then it got ignored.

I also moved the lock.

If the slider problem persists, then just comment here and I will make another fix. However that said I am 99% confident my fix solves the slider problem.

The fix should be in the next weeks WIP release.

Best Regards
Max
