Unable to split surface

Can someone please tell me why I can’t split the red polysurface with the 2 planes in this file?

Hi Dennis - the planes are .002 away from the nearby edges, but not right on them - is that what you want? (It should work, strictly speaking, but I suspect that is part of the problem).

Yeah, if you move the planes to be right on the edges of the detail at the bottom, split works.
