For already existing objects, select the object (s), there is a checkbox in Properties that says “Show surface isocurves”, unchecking it will turn them off for the selected objects.
To prevent them from being shown automatically when new objects are created, go to Options>General and uncheck the box there.
Thanks. I’ve been following a tutorial and I’m having trouble matching 2 surfaces. Here’s what the tutorial says
Here’s the 3dm file. surfaces.3dm (91.1 KB)
because they’re not sharing an adjacent edge… MergeSrf doesn’t do what i think you’re thinking it does.
it takes two untrimmed surfaces which share an edge and makes them into one single surface… but it’s not meant to melt/blend/span/(?) the gap as seen in your model.
(assuming your question ‘why won’t these merge’ means you’re trying to use the MergeSrf command on them?)
that said… if you use MatchSrf on them first then MergeSrf… they’ll merge as one.
Thanks. I’ve just downloaded a model of a truck, but I only want the wheels. How do I delete the rest of the truck and only use the wheels? Sorry, I tried to up load the file but it’s too big. Here’s the website I got it from https://grabcad.com/library/scania-cap
then there are a number of ways to go about doing it… select all the parts you want then use the _Invert command and Delete… or make a new layer and move the parts you want to this new layer (possibly the best way since you won’t have to try to select everything you’d like to keep in one go… you can do it piece by piece or add to the wanted layer etc)…
there are more ways too but i suspect the problem you were having was that the truck is grouped and you couldn’t select individual pieces ?
also, fwiw… you can select individual items which are in a group using sub-object selection… press&hold the shift and ctrl key then do your selections. (this also works on things such as individual edges of a surface or one surface of a polysurface-- like, if you want to select one face of a box, you can subobject select it)
Thanks. I’m trying to change the transparency of a surface using the object properties then materials options. I’m not sure why it’s not working. surface.3dm (40.7 KB)
This getting a little ridiculous. This is super basic stuff. You have the AK3D R8 tutorial which is fantastic, if a little advanced for beginners. It expects you understand basic stuff like this. I’ve used it and it’s easy to follow. There’s nothing wrong with it. I recommend you watch a bunch of basic rhino tutorials on youtube. Then really follow the R8 tutorial again and use the rhino help directory when you get stuck. Before coming to the forum for help. Right now you are just hacking away wasting your time.
If you bothered to read the help description for the matchsurf command, it states step 1, select an untrimmed surface edge. You can not match trimmed surfaces. There is no reason why both these surfaces should be trimmed. Rebuild the one uniform surface with Surface from Edge curves (just like in the AK3D tutorial) then run matchrurf.
first off all i am a neewbie but i think the first thing you have to do is check all your edges its a mess(sorry)
but rinho is very precisely
it never wil work on this way
i made a new file its late her but i think you have to remodel it with good curves in the first plage
i did a small checkcar.3dm (624.4 KB)
