The logic of rebuild curve

Hi all,
I use “rebuild curve” battery to get curve with N control point.
With this curve, loft and get surface. When i open the surface control point.
I have no idea how can i understand the relation between the curve’s degree number, the curve’s control point number, and the surface’s v number.
