Industry Research Forum
July 3, 2017 - 15:00 to 18:00
RMIT Europe

The built environment industry is undergoing a digital transformation. Drones, autonomous vehicles, BIM, data analytics… All impact the chain from design to operation of our buildings and infrastructure.
At this half-day forum, you will gain insight into current research, innovation and challenges of technology for data driven design and construction. The event will provide an opportunity to have an open discussion on the future potential, risks, and challenges of the use of drones.
Objective
Generate a dialogue across the supply chain to identify challenges and opportunities to use drones in architecture, design, and construction.
Why you should attend
- Share ideas with a targeted audience
- Connect thinking with researchers in related fields
- A discussion
- Publicize your work
- Connect to organisations interested in construction work in Australia
Format
The afternoon will start with a series of presentations followed by a discussion panel to set the context, outline the challenge and highlight possibilities across a range of issues related to the theme “Digital transformation of design and construction”.
An interactive workshop follows, exploring three sub-themes: drone applications in design and architecture, data capture and reliability, and construction monitoring. The event will finish with a closing discussion and drinks in the garden.
The event includes a welcome by Marta Fernandez, Executive Director RMIT Europe and Ambassador Tim Kane, Head of Mission, Australian Embassy Spain, as well as presentations by Dr Alex Fisher / RMIT University,** Marc Viader** / Drone Futura, Alberto Sanfeliu / UPC, Luis Moratinos / Ferrovial, Aldo Sollazzo / IAAC + Noumena.
