Just wondering if springs are always displayed in ModelView as 1m long elements instead of the length of the beam they are assigned to. If so, is there a way to modify this?

at the moment (Karamba3D 1.3.3) this option is not available. The idea behind it is to make a clear distinction between springs and normal beam elements since springs come without a length (see here).
However it would be a good idea to have beams with user specified stiffness relations between the nodes. Could you please submit a corresponding feature request here: https://github.com/karamba3d/K3D_NightlyBuilds/issues?
