Walker/Jansseune Marketing Communications, a UK design agency, was commissioned by Botswana Tourism Organisation to create a sculpture show at ITB Berlin 2017, where Botswana will be the Official Partner Country.

Philip Jansseune, who runs the agency, suggested a mass sculpture show using rhinos as a way to show that Botswana is a great sustainable country and a home to many endangered species.

Philip has been kind enough to share this project with us, since Rhino was used to design the sculpture.

“Working with a wood engineer who is making the sculptures I was delighted to notice the coincidence that he was using Rhino software to design the rhino so that his mill could cut out the design from 18mm plywood. Each flat packed sheet is then covered in vinyl graphics being designed by mostly Botswana artists and designers, transported to Berlin and put on display at the South Plaza where 400,000 visitors are expected to attend this year”.

They are also running a social media campaign using the hashtags #botswanarhinos and #ilovebotswana.

For this campaign, they are making mini rhinos out of 3mm plywood which they are giving away at the show for people to paint and upload to social media so we they can spread the message as far as possible. You are invited to participate!
