We have frequent gatherings within the AI Sweden organisation.
Oh so traditional painting is different than digital painting so you wouldn’t compare them?
Well tell that to all the traditional artists, painters, and animators who lost their job to digital. Tell them that is a straw man argument. ![]()
Such a limited view. You could say the same of a render engine. It renders every pixel, wasting a ton of energy and it spits out an image. No skill! Nothing to learn!
All our technology is summarized in Input → Process (Factory) → Output (the spitting back out part)
We are constantly looking for more effective technology that makes better factories to have better outputs.
But is not only about the output. AI is being used for numerous applications in all fields, from science to medicine to math to research, language, learning, you name it. People will learn with this technology. Is not not only about the output.
Ironic. Specially being the one against new technology because of green washing. That is the most party pooper one can get.
Ah European, make sense.
There is something wonderfully ironic about Europeans lecturing everyone else about the energy consumption of new technology after spending the last two decades engineering their own energy problem.
Europe spent years restricting fracking at home, then imported gas produced with fracking. Shut nuclear plants, then complained about expensive energy. Germany went through two straight years of recession, with high energy costs among the pressures cited by its own statistics office.
Build enormous amounts of intermittent wind and solar, then discover you need storage and import €22bn of batteries from China. All while covering landscapes with infrastructure that somehow doesn’t count as an environmental footprint.
Even air-conditioning is often treated as an environmental vice in Europe, while the continent continues to record tens of thousands of heat-related deaths. (Or people don’t want to use it or it’s too expensive to use because energy in Europe is expensive, so basically killing your own population of heat).
And now, just as AI makes abundant, cheap, reliable electricity more valuable than ever, suddenly the problem is that data centres use too much energy.
That’s a pretty good summary of Europe’s “energy suicide”: outsource the extraction, the batteries and increasingly the compute, then congratulate yourself for being green.
Good luck with that mentality. Europe is lost.

lets steer back to it’s usage.. Specifically with Rhino and Rhino MCP-
now that these tools are here, what problems can they solve for your own studio and work?
What problems do they now cause?
I very much appreciate and respect
this conversation.
I think procedural modelling in Rhino would be very useful. So, I am talking about things like the Wool plugin, which are super useful, and have been included in other software for a long time. The sort of things where it can expand on the capabilities of Rhino, but still allow the good artistic freedom and flexibility for more direct interaction.
Bridging the gap between Rhino and Grasshopper would be good too.
One really good use could be to create a database of the Pascal scripts into a proper toolset. I rely heavily on some of his scripts, but they are at risk of being lost and scattered unless they are rescued and collected. Also, if the “best” ones are collected together, there is hope to help prevent them becoming accidentally unusable. His curve scripts have been indispensable for me.
There are loads of archived user scripts that may easily work as small tool boxes and could be expanded to be visual. Maybe you could even find a way to do repeating stuff like Sky’s trimmed corner method by clicking a point and dragging out a sphere, done!
yep and its not just energy sector…
to much bureaucracy and to many ideas i think
this is the messed up part reported in media and then moved on
ive lived here all my life and i just dont get why we do things that makes our lives more difficult, i get some things can be improved but going overboard is crazy its like people in charge cant see further than their nose
Interesting will check it out ![]()
Don’t worry guys, the energy use and data-center resistance arguments by the Luddites will be solved by sending compute to orbit. We are building a God-like super intellect and will soon be putting it in the sky to watch over us.![]()
JD Vance, is that you? Howdy!
Please, no more politics.
To me, sharing your personal opinion every now and then is one thing, but posting a controversial reply that you know is almost certain to spark a political debate is something else entirely. This is a tech support forum, not social media.
Participants here may want to keep in mind that this is a moderated forum. There have been several instances over the years when certain persistantly annoying people who wouldn’t adhere to the guidelines have lost their access.
It is interesting to me that for some reason those who keep expressing political opinions here apparently have no difficulty controlling their impulse to post Rhino topics on X.
What is an a problem is the expectation or assumption that it will solve every problem.
Maybe it’s better to look for where we agree and try to build something better together.
Let’s start with: we all like Rhino.
I think a lot more people agree with you than you think, or at least I hope so!
interesting, Personally I see it as simply a way to advance thru the iterations and exploration leading to a solution faster. Not a solution itself per se.
For me so far, it’s more as a trusty intern who does a lot of the grunt work needed to get to a final design, as opposed to a lead designer responsible for owning the deliverables at the end. At this moment, it works for me, not the other way around.
Now the poor intern-in-waiting will not get the opportunity to learn from you, and you will miss out on human interaction and serendipitous moments ; )
That assumes I can afford an intern, which I never could … ![]()
