Thanks
Rodolfo

Hi Rodolfo -

I’d change the update frequency to service release candidates so that 8.6 gets installed, and update the GPU driver. A “clean install” of the drivers is recommended.
-wim

Hi Wim
Thanks for your reply - unfortunately the issue persists. Any further thoughts?
Rodolfo

Hi Rodolfo -

Are you printing to a PDF file (and, if so, which PDF writer) or a physical printer?
-wim

It doesn’t get that far, I just click:
File>Print… crash!
Rodolfo

Hi Rodolfo -

When Rhino gets in the “not responding” state, please follow these instructions to create a memory dump file and send that in → Manually Creating a Memory Dump (DMP File) from an Unresponsive Rhino for Windows [McNeel Wiki]
-wim

Wim
Thanks, dump file uploaded.
In the meantime, I just found out (by mere chance) that the Print dialogue does open after about 15 minutes. Print dialogue opens/closes ok afterwards but I get the same issue again every time I start Rhino.
Rodolfo

Hi @r.lorenzo,

Thanks for taking the effort to produce and upload the memory dump. Unfortunately, it was inconclusive. We’re still looking.

Thanks,

– Dale

@r.lorenzo

I would like you to try something if possible as a test.

Can you start a new 3dm file.

Make a circle.

Select the circle.

Type Export and hit enter.

Set the file type to PDF and see if the print dialog opens or freezes.

@dale No worries, on the contrary, thanks for looking into this.
Rodolfo

@Trav I’ve done the test and it froze. Let me know if there’s anything else you’d like me to try…
Thanks
Rodolfo

Thanks, I’ve just sent you a message so that we can try some deeper experimenting to see what’s happening. Please let me know if you need any assistance with the instructions.

@r.lorenzo - I sent you private messages with a link to our latest build of Rhino 8.6 that has some changes to the printing code to hopefully work around the crash that you are seeing. If anyone else here is experiencing a crash with Rhino and printing, please let me know and we can see if this latest build fixes them.

Thanks,

– Dale
