Quick Question on Buckling Load and Self-Weight

Hi,

I have found the buckling load by multiplying the buckling load factor with the applied load. Does anyone know is the self weight of the structure is included within this buckling load?

Thanks,
Michela

Hi @michela_m,
the buckling load factor is based on the second order theory normal forces ‘NII’ which govern the structure’s geometrical stiffness. If the ‘NII’ forces get calculated via an ‘AnalyzeThII’-component for a load-case which includes dead weight, then it affects the buckling load factor - otherwise not. See the manual for details on the determination of NII in case of multiple load-cases.
Best,
Clemens
