SetPt can be used to “planarize” curves and surfaces after creation with constant x, y or z coordinate values in with world or local coordinates.

That was outstanding! This use of the loft and blend tool is elegant.
I’d been using the two rail sweep, creating my profile curves in advance whereas this method makes such unnecessary. The blend function is Rhino is really an amazing tool.

I’m glad it was helpful for you. I do the vast majority of my work in MoI3D and if needed simply copy and paste the model directly into Rhino for functions not currently supported by MoI. I’ve found it cuts my time to model down significantly using this approach while providing access to features and plugins in Rhino. The forum over there is also exceptionally helpful with the creator of MoI chiming in daily it seems. In my experience both applications work well together.
I see MoI is mac useable. That’s a nice surprise. I’m longing to be able to use just one program for all my needs, but it’s worth a look. You prefer it for all curve work or just the more planar bits?

It’s really dependent on the type of model I’m working on. I start in MoI nearly all the time and will then copy/paste to Rhino as needed to use some plugins like ASM, SnS, Thearender etc. If, for instance I have to create a more complex surface or curve using ASM I am able to create that using the reference copied into Rhino and then simply copy and paste that back into MoI and continue building the model. I don’t think there is a package out there that has every feature I’ll ever need for every use case so I just concentrate on picking a few tools that make for a combined full feature set and interoperate well.
Thanks for the feedback. At this point its all I can manage to learn the Rhino. I do see some aspects of the Moi program that are appealing but there’s only so many hours in the day. All the best to you this year.
btw - I watched a few other of your vids and I find them very instructional.
I’ve been at it for the last two days and I’m better at it than I was, however, there’s still an issue with modeling accuracy. Below are some SS of a transition from the reference model I sent out. While the blend surfaces method will make for pleasing transitions, I cannot seem to make it conform to the actual object I’m attempting to duplicate (wishing reason) The green arrows point to an arc that represents the actual radius of the box camera body and the red arrow point to the best approximations I can get with blend interface. In the second image you can see I was able to approximate the desired curve, but then in the third image you see the result has become useless.
