OffsetGrid component thinning panels at surface edge?

Hi all,

I am in the process of updating one of my projects from last year. I’ve decided to give it another shot since I’ve been working more with Grasshopper. This project uses the PanelingTools plugin to generate 3D custom panels for a complex open surface.

The issue I’m having is that the Offset Grid component is not working properly toward the edges of my original surface. The offset points come close enough at the surface edge that the panels lose their thickness. Is there a better way to do this?

I thought the issue might be with the BRep component on Offset Grid, so I disconnected it from the original surface and set it to a 1x1x1 box—same issue.

On another note, I would like to preserve the original layer that my panels are generated from, that way I can have my mullions and glazing separated (not all on the default layer). Is this possible?

Hi @lynwarb
You’ll get much better offset if you use the untrimmed surface as base brep to the ptOffsetGrid
