First look at gutters with downspouts:
There’s TONS of room for your types of plugins. Rhino has many highly talented developers but their focus is on things unrelated to practical architecture. Especially when it comes to North American building practices. There are talented Rhino 3D developers but most of them are focused on other disciplines. Much of that is parametric design via grasshopper.
I’m a HUGE fan of Sketchup… more accurately Sketchup creators especially when it comes to building construction. I’ve seen so much great stuff. My preference for Rhino 3D over Sketchup is largely due to Rhino’s similarities to AutoCAD - especially the command line and layouts. Sketchup’s ‘Layout’ has very good looking final results but it’s mega slow. If you’re plugins are made available to Autodesk refugees, my best guess is that it would be extremely popular.
Caveat (AFAIK) is that Sketchup’s user base is way greater than Rhino’s user base is much smaller than Sketchup. Any given plugin for Rhino will only be seen by maybe 10% of the users relative to Rhino… but that could change quite fast especially considering Rhino’s similarities to AutoCAD (the biggest user base).
I’ve released the first BETA version of the extension (Version 0.9.5 - 08.18.2026). Please note that only common truss types (ie. King Post, Queen Post, Fink, Howe) can currently be drawn with the extension. The web page is posted here for more information:

Tomorrow I will begin work on the MacOS version of the extension.
I will also proceed to port over more truss types in the next few days and eventually we will get to rafter roofs, hip sets and complex roofs.
You might want to add it to Food4Rhino and/or PackageManager so that people will come across it (there are many users that don’t use this forum)
I’m a big fan of your plugins on SketchUp, it will be lovely to have it on Rhino as well, thank you for your hard work!

Unless I’m missing something that seems way cheap for this plug-in does. Nice work.
The price is currently much lower than the SketchUp version and probably too low. The reason being is that the current Rhino extension is not as full featured, it still lacks a lot of functionality. I’ve probably only completed 10% of the full port at this point, a lot of work remains to be done. With that in mind I don’t feel like charging the full price would be fair. Also it gives people the incentive to get in while the price is still relatively inexpensive and I need early adopters to help me improve the product on Rhino, feedback will be very important during the next few weeks and months.
I’ve submitted it to the Food 4 Rhino website and I’ve also uploaded it to the Package Manager. Thank-you for informing me of this, I am still trying to figure out the normal distribution channels for Rhino and its extensions.
My next milestone will be to add in the complex roof module. However before I port that over I will be going through it with a fine tooth comb and looking for any bugs and limitations. I want to bring over the best version of that module that I can.

I was going to start porting over the complex roof module this weekend however I’ve decided to delay that port until I’ve made a few improvements to the module first. I’m currently working on dis-continuous fascia or gutter lines within my SketchUp (base) code. Once I’ve made those updates and fully validated the new algorithms I will then proceed to port this module over to Rhino.

I was about to ask if you created your own visual style for Rhino already then realized that was Sketchup. I always liked that appearance.
Way back in R6 was when the display modes in this link were created: Advanced Rhino Display Modes [McNeel Wiki] - The “Simple Bright” one is closest to Sketchup. When I have some time I might have another go at creating something similar.
Anyways… back to the topic: Neat to see things coming along so fast!!!

I’ve also completed my overhaul of the complex roof module so it is now ready to port over to Rhino. Updates on that week long process can be found in my Medeek Truss thread on the SketchUp Forum.
I’m still trying to gauge how much interest there is for my extensions in Rhino. I would like to start porting over the complex roof module however the interest or at least uptake of the initial release of the Truss plugin has been mediocre at best. It may be too early yet to make any real judgement but I will be watching the reception closely in the next few weeks and that will inform my future development.
