Lousy intersection for super simple surfaces

These two surfaces intersect in a weird way.
The “section” tool produces the same interrupted result.
I was able to produce the proper curve with “ExtractIsoCurve” thank to the symmetric nature of white surface.

WTF intersection.3dm (136.2 KB)

I’m kind of dumbfounded to stumble upon such silly bugs at this day and age…

i had no time complaining, but me too have found irritatingly strange instances like these recently.

Interesting, this seems to be tolerance related, if I raise the tolerance to 0.001 or more, I get a different interruption, if I lower it to 0.1, I get a full intersection. Also if I move the intersect plane just a tiny bit off the exact mid isocurve location, I get a full intersection at the original 0.01 tolerance setting.

You also get the full intersection in Rhino 7 at the supplied tolerance.

Edit: But not in Rhino 5.

NB:

The isocurve does not lie exactly on the blue plane (it has an x-dimension of 0.11, the plane has an x-dimension of 0)…

_insertKnot
both direction, automatic, twice

→ intersect works as expected.

it s an old, 9 year old story…

Hi @osuire,

Lousy is right - I’ve logged the bug.

Thanks for reporting.
