McNeel Europe is organizing a Ladybug tools workshop at our Barcelona offices. The objective of the workshop is to enhance your skills and knowledge in environmental design using the free Grasshopper plugin Ladybug tools. The workshop is taught by energy engineer Mateo Barbero and architect and PhD researcher Adrian Krezlik from Dosta Tec, an engineering company specializing in sustainable buildings.


Day 1:

  • Introduction to climate modeling in AEC
  • Introduction to the Ladybug Tools (LBT): User Interface
  • Climate modeling
  • Energy Modeling in LBT: Rural vs urban weather model
  • Introduction to Heat Flow

Day 2:

  • Simple energy model
  • Energy Intensity and End-use. Carbon Intensity of energy sources
  • Detailed Energy Model: Systems, Program & People
  • Adjusting the Energy Model: Materials & their properties
  • Introduction to Thermal Comfort
  • Thermal Comfort Modelling

Day 3:

  • Daylight Physics, Sun Position, Radiation Rose, Local Daylight Conditions
  • Sunlight hours on the façade. Introduction to Daylight Modelling
  • Simple Daylight Autonomy Modelling
  • Adjusting the Daylight Model: Materials & Physics

Course requirements: Requires a basic knowledge of Rhino and Grasshopper.


Course fee: EUR 795,- (+VAT); full-time students and university teachers get a 50% discount (proof of status required). Please note that we will confirm your seat after your payment has cleared.

Max. number of participants: 12. If there is no quorum, the course will be canceled 15 days before.
