Install from Github

Hi @anyone clever

How do you install source code files from GitHub.
After I downloaded the zip file, unblock it and extracted the master. The file contains another folder and 2 tiny files, an SLN file and .agattributes file.

Then within the one folder remaining folder are 3 .cs file as and another folder. (It’s like a babooshka doll) Inside that is a .cs file

I feel like I’m in over my head but hey.
I’m trying to sort out several issues with kangaroo remesher and cytoplasm.

RemesherRHP-master.zip (10.7 KB)

This is a solution file, you need VisualStudio, SharpDevelop or MonoDevelop (not sure about this one) to open it. You also will have to build it to dll or exe in order to use it. Check the readme in github. Perhaps there’s already built version you can use

If you don’t know what you’re doing, stay clear of github until you do.

Normally you can look on the GitHub page of a project under the Releases tab to find a binary (so you don’t need to build from source)

In this case it looks like some foolish author of this project hasn’t included a release file for the project…

Oh wait - I recognise that filename - that would be me

I should put up a release on the repo itself, but you can also find one here where I first posted it:

:face_with_raised_eyebrow: I think this is beyond my abilities. :confounded:

Daniel is there currently a mesh machine .gh or a .dl which will work with either the latest versions of R5 or R6 and can be easily loaded for mere mortals?

Copy that @Ivelin I 'm already in over my head with grasshopper. The source code github can will remain firmly closed in my world. Thanks for the info ! Have a cookie on me : :cookie:

Click the link in my post above - there is a downloadable gha and instructions

:face_with_hand_over_mouth: oops thank you Daniel.

Hi @DanielPiker

I have installed the plugin as well as plankton. The mesh machine icon is still missing from the Kangaroo window.

Where do I find the command?

thanks again

Hello,

So the site doesn’t exist anymore (The mesh machine link)
I’m exploring different types of meshing tools and I find that a lot of people recommend mesh machine but I cant find it. Am I missing something?

Hi @Ayesha_Ameen

Hopefully my answer here is helpful

Hey @DanielPiker,

Thank you so much for the response! I followed the instructions word for word (I dont get the unblock option in my file properties so I had to leave that be. It was the same when I installed either ladybug or pufferfish) and i do have the Plankton components but no meshmachine, Exo Wireframe or Cytoskeleton. I accept that I’m in general a complete amateur in this field (learning tho!) So please excuse me if it’s a very simple thing that I have overlooked or not understood.
