I have 3 levers and I can't manage to link them together

Hello

I really want to learn Bongo to build all my ideas, but I keep hitting a wall with even the simplest things.

In the attached file, everything seems quite straightforward, and I watched the scissor tutorial at least three times today, but I can’t figure out what’s happening in my model when I attach the interlocking chain.

I have the two blue brackets, and they’re connected by the upper gray part.

As soon as I try to attach the right blue bracket to its joint, so that it only rotates around it and the joint stays in position, my entire setup gets twisted.

Why?

All the axes of rotation are exactly in the Y direction.

The IK section of the animation manager reveals that the software doesn’t recognize any IK-structure.

That is because your chain lacks a ‘constraint’, like you suspected.

The first Object 3458 (you have 2 Objects 3458 in your model – you obviously made a copy) is the ‘head’ of the IK chain. It functions as a ‘driver’ because you initiated rotation via keyframes. Perfect.

Object 6949 is the ‘tail’ of the IK-snake. It can be made a ‘Constraint’ to remain in its place.

The option “Keep pivot location the same’ allows the object to rotate along any of its axes – as is your scheme.

Now the IK-Animation manager shows the available IK info.

Unfortunately something went wrong. The second Object 3458 is not a Hinge. In fact, in the Object Managers you can see the joint is set to ‘Universal’ with scaling along Y.

When that is fixed to Hinge Y the IK-chain is ready to go.
