How to turn a 2D map into a 3D Globe in Grasshopper?

Hi Joseph,

Thank you for that, I appreciate it.

I’m trying to get it with the country borders and for it be solid.

I’ve managed to do this by baking the shapfile and using it as a curve.

but I need it to be solid and I need to be able to plot onto it.

Thank you!

I was able to combine them to get something close to what I was after.

Congratulations. Can you split the sphere surface with your polylines? You might need to pull them to the surface first (or maybe not). Are you going to post that file with internalized points? The forum could use a spherical map of the globe.

P.S. I see you are using curve control points. Have you tried working with points from Import SHP?

Data errors in the csv files caused considerable pain in the grid thread and again in this one. I used two different methods to deal with it but have a much simpler way now. The yellow group in this file labeled “clean data, use zero” can replace both previous fixes (the gold “WTF?” group in the grid thread and the yellow group added to GDP% in this thread).
