Hi,
To my understanding, the Buckling Modes component shows the local bucking of the model. How to see the global buckling of the model using Karamba? One reviwer of my ongoing paper has commented that “usually, the first mode of buckling analysis should be a global buckling, while the results (Karamba3D’s Buckling Modes) seem like local buckling”.
Hi @Iasef_Md_Rian,
the algorithm for calculating the buckling modes in Karamba3D does not differentiate between local or global buckling. It is based on the general eigenvalue problem involving the structure’s elastic and geometric stiffness matrix. The result of such a linear elastic buckling analysis are buckling load factors and corresponding buckling modes. The structure will always fail according to the mode connected to the smallest buckling load factor.

Thanks for the clarification.
