I’m currently working on a reasearch project where we try to find an optimal solution for an architectural design. We want de “pack” department as optimal as possible. So we started with a parametric model that places departments on different floors and created variations in sizes. This proces was made generative with galapagos.
But when we let galapagos runs for a while I see that all the floor parameters (so on which floor a department can be placed) are on the minimal value, even if it knows that this isn’t going to fit (by packrat).
Is this behaviour normal given the setting that I want to minimize the fitness.
