Exclude overlapping/common surfaces from polysurfaces

Is it possible to exclude the common surface of two polysurfaces when evaluating the area? In the example below i have two boxes with a common surface (yellow). When i extract the area of the two selected surfaces i dont want to include the yellow part of the largest surface.

I didnt know there was a brep|brep function. Thank you so much! i love it when the solution is so simple.
