eCAADe (Education and research in Computer Aided Architectural Design in Europe) is a non-profit making association of institutions and individuals with a common interest in promoting good practice and sharing information of computers in education and research in architecture and related professions. eCAADe was founded in 1983.
The organization fosters and promotes the interchange of ideas, information and personnel between member organizations. It has an annual conference hosted by a different member University each year. This year, eCAADe Annual Conference will take place at the University of Oulu (Finland), from August 22 to August 26.
During the first two days, a series of workshops will be held. Among these, we’d like to highlight the workshop “Transformational Intelligent Systems. Parametric Simulation Workshop Proposal” by Effimia Giannopoulou, Nelson Montás and Pablo Baquero on Monday, August 22, from 9:00 to 18:00.
The workshop will develop an experiment of design, modeling, and subsequent simulations of kinetic systems built upon a combination of self organizing SMA and other materials to fit specific building application criteria and standards.
One of the objectives is to design a dynamic kinetic structure and to simulate the material’s behavior to properly predict critical function, actuation and physical properties. Grasshopper + Kangaroo bridge the design-simulation tool’s workflow in a single stream to optimize and a smoother and fluent decision making process.
