Discourse is of course painfully slow and has huge lag times, sorry I still prefer the old newsreader from Ms that we used before McNeel went to this terribly overdone message board but I guess fluff wins out over efficiency. It’s really a pain to dive into a message that has a ton of replies, it was instantaneous on the old reader here it can take literally minutes to get to the bottom of some threads like the xnurbs one.
I’m on the new ms edge because you can’t support my outdated browser but even with this it’s painfully slow and error prone, I guess it’s set up for iPhone and not computers as I can see tons of wasted screen real-estate on each side of the browser.
I think discourse is way better than the old newsgroup for example:
-quotes
-linking
-@ names
-previews of links
-notifications
-drag and drop uploading of files
it took a while though before I liked it but wouldn’t want to switch back
Discourse is much faster for me than any old McNeel forums (both at home and work). Sounds like the issue stems either from your connection or computer.

Thanks for checking I usually don’t have a problem but these last two weeks I noticed a slow down and even just the opening page takes a while. No other site was doing this I have a speedy connection maybe it’s the browser?
I’m using windows edge, latest build.
your browser is most likely the cause of this, try another browser when it occurs again, something like firefox that usually shows me that something is wrong with safari. Since i am on a stone age mac with an older system that reason my differ for you of course, but cleaning all cache and reloading the page usually helps for me. the funny thing often i dont have time to clean up but it settles itself some time later which might have to do with the browser being finished sorting backing up or whatever it does.
I’m using Edge and Discourse isn’t slow. Do you have antivirus type software checking the pages you browse? Have you tried tracert to check how your computer is getting to discourse.mcneel.com?
