Design and Parametric Fabrication Summer Workshop
July 3-28, 2017, Monday-Thursday 9am-1pm and 2-4pm (except last 6 days)
Controlmad Advanced Design Center
Avda. del Manzanares, 166-168
28019 - Madrid (Spain)
Controlmad Advanced Design Center (ARTC and RhinoFabStudio) will host a Design and Parametric Fabrication Summer Workshop from July 3 to July 28.
The course is scheduled in 5 units spanning 4 weeks:
Unit 1: 3D Modeling with Rhinoceros / 24 hours
Unit 2: Parametric Design with Grasshopper I / 24 hours
Unit 3: Parametric Design with Grasshopper - II / 24 hours
Unit 4: Digital Fabrication / 29 hours
Unit 5: Introduction to V-Ray for Rhino / 8 hours
"The course is organized in an intensive way so any student without previous knowledge in 3D modeling or Rhino may get a solid base for going into parametric design. For that, we will use Grasshopper, a free graphical algorithm editor tightly integrated with Rhino’s 3-D modeling tools. Unlike RhinoScript, Grasshopper requires no knowledge of programming or scripting, but still allows designers to build form generators from the simple to the awe-inspiring. It is used at most famous architecture offices like Zaha Hadid or Norman Foster, at engineering teams as the one of Sagrada Familia (Barcelona), one of the most technological advanced buildings in the world.
Students not only will learn how to model and render, but also will implement various strategies to obtain structures of complex models, analyze, calculate, interact with the physical environment etc. with the chance of manufacture different models with CNC technology, like cutting laser Trotec and 3D printers The final goal is to create, design and 3D model a cool object, prototype or sculpture using Rhino and Grasshopper, get a fast render with V-Ray and make it real with the digital machines we have."
Early bird registration until May 20
Registration deadline: June 12
