Creating spiral flowers that can open up

Hey, what’s up [=
so I’m trying to shape flowers
that look like these kinds of pasta - Gigli

there are two challenges that I cannot figure out:

  1. How can I create the spiral flower shape (preferably, in a way that will enable
    me to control the sine wave ornament)

  2. How can I give the spiral shape flower functionality i.e. open it and close it like a flower?
