Convert Python 2 to Python 3 Necessary?

Is this conversion of Python 2 scripts for Rhino necessary?

From my tests, there is currently little to gain:

Python 3 about 10x slower than old python component

Using .NET (e.g. RhinoCommon/rhinoscriptsyntax) in CPython (i.e. the Python 3 Script editor) is currently substantially less performant than using it in IronPython (i.e. the . NET version of Python used in the old GhPython and the new IronPython 2 Script components). That said, being able to run native CPython 3 in Rhino is awesome and opens up all sorts of new opportunities!
