BUG/IMPROVMENT on RAILREVOLVE - Wrong Surface Seam

Hi All,

I know RailRevolve isn’t the most glamorous or used tool but for me is very handy and I’m always bother the fact that the seam of the surface doesn’t fit my actual starting section.

This is particularly annoying in Grasshopper becasue it leads into wrong intersection and multiple other problem managing this kind of shapes.

This is a simple form, made with grasshopper, that shows the wrong position of the srf seam.

If not too complex could the seam correspond to the starting section like it happen in revolve and all other tools?

Thanks

if I’m not mistaken, the seam corresponds with the rail curve end not the profile location.

crvend command will show this location and you can then place your profile at that location.

Thanks Kyle, I know this but

  1. is inconsisten regarding the other tools (eg. Sweeps)

  2. is really messy when you use the FilletCrv in Grasshopper

My big issue is the second one becasue it require a lot of extra work on GH to fix the seam point.

I know you aren’t keen in GH (:face_with_tongue:) but this definition is a good example of this issue (is the star definition I used for the image)
