Bounding box

Hi everyone,
sorry for such basic question…
Can someone give me a comprehensive definition of bounding box function?
based on my understanding it must be the minimum area or volume of an object, is it true?

The bounding box is simply a box that a certain object or a collection of objects exactly fit inside.

That’s not necessarily true.

The bounding box is constructed in the objects plane, when no other plane is specified, so the resulting box is the minimum bounding box in that current plane.
There might be a another bounding box with a different orientation that has a smaller volume though.

If you’re looking to find the overall minimum bounding box within a given tolerance, there are a couple of definitions and scripts here on the forum that can do that. Simply search for it.
