Boolean Difference cutter becomes the cut object

true, they have such I presume. Its more that I bet its £80 then the postage and insurance and I wanted it done and end result into a photo a few days ago and its taking longer than thought.
It is CAD modelable and as such not justifying money I dont have.

True those scanners can be pricey.

The spray leaves a matte finish so it’s easier to scan

I think you need the right geometry before considering anything else. I didn’t use Cycles to do that render, it was merely an example of what you could potentially get to, given some time.

But the radius corners were all just an output of making sure geometry was as clean as possible before blending or filleting. Single span degree 3 surfaces were my aim, to ensure simplicity. As the shape is a little strange, I found that it did make many-span blends and fillets, which is not ideal, bit it was watertight, and rendered nicely.

Again, key to this is ensuring you are getting what you think is the intent of the design, rather than getting how it is shown. Clearly whatever the manufacturing method was, it was not a requirement to have perfect surfacing and symmetry, thus it doesn’t have that. Presumably an inexpensive moulding, made to make stuff quickly for wartime effort?
