@JonnyBam Keep in mind that any pattern I work on is created on a flat plane first. Then I use FlowAlongSrf, ShapeMap in Grasshopper, or any other Grasshopper method to apply the pattern to the target surface.

Regardless of the pattern, I often start with NURBS. However, when I need to apply complex details, such as floral or other organic designs, I either create them directly as meshes or convert them to meshes. That’s because fitting them onto the target surface requires much less computation than using NURBS, which can become unnecessarily heavy in these cases.

So, wherever there is patterned detail I use meshes, while the smooth surfaces remain NURBS.
