AA Visiting School New York

AA Visiting School New York
July 10-19, 2019

Hosted at The Cooper Union in New York City

AA Visiting School (AAVS) is coming to New York. This program will focus on digital and scripted design methodologies, realized through digital representation and fabrication techniques. Each tutor will introduce their own methods of working within the platforms of Rhino, Grasshopper, Python, and Maya.

This Visiting School will explore emerging possibilities in advanced architectural design and urban futures. This endeavor not only hopes to reveal a glimpse of what the city could be but also start a discourse to offer future urban solutions to the changing landscapes of our metropolises around the world.

In the studio workshops, student groups will produce an urban proposal driven by new, advanced computational techniques.

Morning presentations and evening public lectures will be presented on topics relevant to the workshop agenda, offering exposure to a wide range of methodologies and applications used by the instructors and guest speakers in their practices.

With its ever‐increasing densification and redevelopment, as well as the growing diversity of its cultures, New York is one of the best locations to witness an evolving city. AAVS New York will offer site visits to several prominent buildings that have shaped and influenced urban habitation.

To conclude the program, a public event will be held to present final group projects and lead into a discussion session covering future urban growth within New York and using computational methodologies to address the issues impacting contemporary urban systems.

Interested? The application deadline is June 15, 2019. More information…
