It seems that my ZoomExtents has either started to add a significant border OR it is considering hidden objects, because it has the effect of zooming out way to far. Any suggestions?

My guess would be that it’s a specific object in that file that is causing this. Can you replicate the behavior in a new file with just a few boxes?
Hi Declan - this can happen if there are control points way off in space, though I have not heard of it in quite a while - If it is model-specific, send me the file, I’ll take a look.

See if you have any large radius dimension in the drawing. Even if its centermark is 0 size and not visible, it’ll still affect zoom extents. Annoying.
