You know how Rhino will just suddenly become obnoxiously sluggish?

It seems to be happening a lot with the current WIP. I know there are 50K plus curves but it’s clearly not just the brute scale of it, restarting Rhino usually clears it up, the same file in 8 is fine.

In my entirely unscientific personal observation, it hasn’t really been a thing in 9?

Can you recreate it?

Does it happen once a day? Once every 10 minutes?

How about when zoomed out or in?

Haven’t been able to repeat.

It’s not sluggishness in the display(well unless it is?) it’s a giant pause before/after any operation…

Hi Jim,

What is your systeminfo?

Is the layer panel typically open? Can you try closing the entire Right Container to see if that is effecting the behavior you are seeing?

Well next time it shows up…

Okay I just had it happen on pasting some geometry into a file, with not an obnoxious amount of objects in it. Turning off the panels is not helping. Weird pause after every little operation. Reopening Rhino hasn’t helped…will reboot.

So, this is a big stretch. How much disk space free is there?

What happens if the clipboard is cleared? Does that speed things back up? I wonder if memory is starting to page?

TBs of disk space, lots of RAM, rebooting hasn’t changed it, it actually shows it on another computer…I don’t know if this is even the same thing lol usually it goes away with reopening. I’ll email the file to see if it repeats for you guys…

Saving a copy to V8 it’s fine, at least on opening…well it’s fine in Rhino 8, not the WIP.

Is that a mosquito? I’m seeing hesitation as well, still poking at it.

RH-90219 has been filed in this regard, its private due to your file being attached.

I just had another file do this, just on opening it in the latest WIP…

Hi @JimCarruthers,

Just curious, if you disable the SectionTools plug-in, do you still encounter the slowdown?

– Dale

It appears to stop it on the file I sent you guys…and on the other one I mentioned yesterday?

Thanks @JimCarruthers - we should have a fix ready for next week’s WIP release.
