For some years I’ve been using an App for the iPad that allows you to create buttons that send sequences of keyboard characters. I’ve been using this with Rhino to select the various functions and particularly the Snaps.
Every time Apple does an update to the OS they seem to pinch a short cut for something else, my Tangent Snap for some time now has inverted the colours on the screen. The latest update has effectively rendered it useless, I think it’s something to do with the speed it’s sending at, it’s just flakey and has subsequently rendered it useless.
So the question is, would McNeel like to make something similar? Ideally it would connect directly into Rhino (at this point I have no idea what I’m talking about) so that it works faster and is not effected by changes that Apple makes.
What I had/imagine is an area for the Snaps (single tap replaces the Snap, double tap adds a Snap), an area for the Icons that works as on the screen, then an area the user can add the functions they use the most plus buttons that could do a sequence of things (is that a macro?), for instance I’d love a button that simply toggles between Shaded and Wireframe.
I’m sure McNeel isn’t sat about with nothing to do, but I do really miss what I had (even though it was a bit clunky) and I think with some creative input, it could be genuinely useful.
And yes, I’d happily pay for it, as I did for the last one.
