Hi there
I decided to switch from Vectorworks to Rhino completely.
I’ve worked with Rhino in the past already, but only for 3D modeling.
But starting out in Rhino for 2D layouts is a bit more tricky than expected.
There is no drawing order for layers, which makes 2D drawing quite complicated. I found a script online, but i’m not sure if this is the way to go about it.
I downloaded Lands Design, because there offering drawing order for layers as a feature. I did this just to be able to get started working, but it’s an expensive solution for just that feature.
Does anyone has expierience with the drawing order script? Or is there another way?
Working as landscape architect, i’m usually working in 2D for basic plans. The DXF data which i work with have classes/layers for each individuall object-type, like houses, streets and so on. In other CAD-Applications, one can just fill them as polygons with the desired colour.
But in Rhino, there “empty” and I figured patching them is the way to go, but is it? But unfortunately i’m not sure if it’s possible to patch the closed curves individually all at once. Maybe there is a solution for grasshopper, but till now I have not figured out, how I can run scripts for each object individually.
I’m a huge fan of Rhino and I’m always recommending the software, but because of my problems described above, it’s a big hurdle to use this App in my industry.
I’d love to read about your insights n those matter
Cheers!
