Work NC into rhino keeping line weights styles and dims styles how?

Hi,
asking for a friend, he uses Works NC for aviation plans and has never found a way of creating Tiffs from them retaining the line weights and styles, and dimension and text styles.

he has to print to paper then get that scanned.

He also has been with Rhino since V4 (like myself) and is on Rhino 8 as of a few weeks (like myself). aim being to see if he can use Rhino to act as the stepping stone for this mission.

He has tried saving from Works NC as .igs and says has yet to find any way of retaining line weights, styles and dim styles.

I drew a few lines in Rhino8, placing each on its own layer, allocating different line weights, making all black. Print choose tiff, and although failing to get the items all in the tiff, at least got differing line weights when viewed in pshop. so perhaps rhino print as tiff can do it, but I can find no way of getting an entire drawing in, even one of 9inch length, (see other post)

Cheers

Steve

Steve,

It appears you are indicating the WorkNC application will not save a DWG and retain the line weights and styles, and dimension and text styles, nor will it print those as expected, is that correct?

Hi, I have spoken to him again, he says:-

Printing to his Hewlett Packard HpT120 was ok

Now he has a Hp T230 and they changed print dialogs etc screwed up everything.

Now 20 line thicknesses. Thick then goes thin thin thin then thickens up after 5 steps

Have added CAD thing dialog box oriented it to autocad and messed up what worked with Works NC.

Autocad is not interested in presentation., so by orienting T230 to Autocad, so enter the problem !

Works NC was better at presentation, thats why he went for Works NC as he needed the choice of line thicknesses and formatting it gave…

A dwg export from it converts all line thicknesses to just one.

Dwg by its very nature is rubbish at supporting line thicknesses.

Does everything on layers and colours.

One thickness in one colour, another thickness in another colour.

Works NC into dwg line thicknesses disappear, all formatting disappears.

He has Rhino V8, is there a way of getting the Works NC into Rhino keeping all the formatting, then I wonder, though file size will be huge, if Rhino can export a jpg or tiff, then he prints that to the T230 and we get out the drawing with line thicknesses, and dashed as well as continual, and colours that he used, matching the drawing on Works NC ?

Raster printout to tiff then tiff fed into any printer cannot be meddled with !

or perhaps Rhino print to printer, and choose raster not vector, avoids meddling by T230.

or Print to printer choose vector for better quality, and would the T230 meddle with that ?

Steve

Hi Steve,

I responded to your previous post about how to export the Rhino file as a TIFF.

It possible choosing raster option with a PDF printer might work from Rhino, see attached.
You might have to set a custom paper size to correspond to the printer’s area.
