Won't correctly flowbysurface?

Hi, I attempted to apply scroll work by disecting signet ring, unfolding and then reapply by flowbysurface. For some reason it doesnt like the polysurface so I attempted rebuilds and different methods. I was able to use project but ideally would prefer the other method. Any suggestions greatly appreciated in advance. Thanks

If you use Shrinktrimmedsurface on all your surfaces does it work better? The two smaller surfaces had very different structures.

Thanks Scott. To clarify this is running Rhino 5 (SR14) We ran: ShrinkTrimmedSrf on the “target” surface, and then flow on surface and it works as expected.
