Wish: SetObjectDisplayMode and BlockInstances

@Jarek I think I fixed the missing display modes for the next wip. In the WIP you’re using try clicking the Multiple viewports option and see if the custom mode is listed there, if so I fixed what you’re seeing on friday and you’ll see the fix with the next public wip… if not… then let me know and I’ll dig deeper.

@Trav, the custom display modes are listed, they just don’t have any effect if assigned.
Try this: make a block out of a box, and make 2 instances.
Switch to Shaded mode and try assigning different display modes to one of the instances. Over here, only Wireframe and Xray work on blocks, Ghosted or a custom one (i.e. copy Shaded with no edges on any geometry) don’t have any effect. Wondering if this could be working with any display mode.
(tested on today’s Trunk build)

Hi Pascal - I couldn’t get that script to work.
It appears to work as all objects have become parentized, but SetObjectDisplayMode seems to have no effect on its display.

I’ve attached a model for ref. Does it work for you?

@Jarek I am seeing some issues as well. I’ve made a YT for the issue here. RH-70203 I know there’s a lot of working happening with blocks right now so its probably related.

I stumbled over the same limitation in Rhino 8.7, but I can’t even see the per Block Instance Ghosted mode display override, only the Wirefreme and Shaded modes are working.

I would also really love SetObjectDisplay mode to work on BlockInstances!

Also would love ByParent to be the default setting for Display Color for elements in a block.

+1 on SetObjectDisplay mode to work on BlockInstances (a by parent display mode or a full override), it would help a LOT with the organization and documentation of very complex models that contain tons of blocks.

The ByParent request is on the list as RH-83976 Properties: Display Mode Needs By Parent Setting
