[wish] Orient onto Surface: An option for ALL creation commands!

I’ve recently discovered the AddBolt command using the Package Manager and really LOVING the ability to orient the bolt onto any surface, as a step within the command. It is so much more direct than dealing with cplane options that may or may not be set correctly for that particular command at that particular moment.

Is there any chance we could add an Orient onto Surface option onto EVERY command that is generating something, ie: curves, surfaces, solids, meshes? Based on my AddBolt experience, I feel like it would be a super-intuitive enhancement!

… further, if the OrientOntoSurface option had the same shortcut, say S, then one could use the option instantly within any command!

You can build a line normal to surface. I use ! _Line _Normal regularly. No need to set a Cplane for it.

Hi Bobi, yes that’s great!

And that’s the idea; an option within the command, to OrientOnSurface.

Would be a game changer for inserting blocks as well.

Maybe not the same…more basic but related? I really like the AutoAlignCPlane (set to object); this is also specially handy when you’re doing subselections via Ctrl+Shift:

Thanks Rene!

Yes I have been using that method as well, it’s great!

I guess the only difference with it being in the command is the ability to pick the surface AFTER initiating the command, which feels a bit more intuitive to me. I also found I was switching my AutoCplane settings too often for different tasks…

But I’ll persevere with it, I’m sure there’s a sweet spot there somewhere!
