it would be nice if named position could be used within blocks like known from Bongo, where I can animate objects in blocks.

That would require some kind of a dynamic block system in Rhino. I’ve added this thread to RH-34030 (not public).

Bongo animations in blocks are still working, so maybe it’s not so much work to get it for named positions working too.

I just encountered a situation where I’m in need of this today.
Whole document in Rhino needs to be exported to a Solidworks user, so everything needs to be in nested blocks.
Now, customer wants to test a number of different concepts, and named positions would help greatly.
Workaround right now is to duplicate everything and explode and create new nested blocks for each thing they want to try…
