I can also think of an example that seems similar to “bike shedding” but is actually different: Your shed has two doors: one painted red and one painted green. Behind which one are the explosives? Any thoughts?
I know - I just would like to see a person’s real name right under the ava… picture. Why would you “hide” behind an alias?
I was mainly thinking about the use of “avatars” and funny user names, that doesn’t seem have to anything to do with real communication (correct me if I’m wrong). They just obscure things and are (IMO) totally unnecessary “noise.” I don’t think it’s cool at all… And no, I’m not too old
I also see some strange UI elements that shouldn’t be here (see, for instance, Margarets original post)… Reminds me a bit of Facebook, which has the worst UI I can think of…

Well, to be honest, we did have a few funny user names on the newsgroup such as “noreply@something.com”, “Not Your uncle Bob” and even one or two I can’t repeat here…
